Gibbon Snow prepared the design and construction documents for a full restoration of the 1836 Cape Spear Lighthouse for Parks Canada and the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office. Work included the original iron and copper dome, stonework, clapboard, timber framing and other elements of this iconic building. Critical to this project was historic research and awareness along with a well thought out plan and careful detailing to allow correct execution of the work, in keeping with the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada.
